Advice on Nail Coating

I am after some advice please. I used to have dipping powder nails in the UK for years, but unfortunately since moving to Spain I have been unable to find any salon or mobile beautician who does it in the Villamartin/La Zenia area.
I have heard a few people say that acrygel nails are what more people are having now rather than Shellac, but what damage does it do to your natural nails? Is it as good as Shellac or does it ruin your nails?
