Hi all I wonder if you can help me with medication. I was told you can just walk into a chemist with the box and everything is cheap. Just been told 45 euros for 1 medication. Help

Type 1 or Type 2?

I don't know the price of insulin, but Metformin is €1.94 for a box of 50.

Hi Jim. I'm type 2 the meds I need are alogliptin 25 mg. This is additional to Metformin. We haven't registered with a Dr as we are non residents and only here til end march. We were told you have to be residents and on the padron to register at drs.I have all other medications to last until we return to the UK. But this was a new one just started before we left in Nov. We were told by lots of different people it wouldn't be a problem.

You should be able to use your EHIC and get a prescription in the circumstances, that would reduce the cost.

I think that Aloglipdin is known here as Vipidia, and it's expensive (I think €45 for 25mg packets).

I only take Metformin, so don't know about Vipidia, but it might be worth asking a chemist if there's a generic version, as these are usually much cheaper.
