Hi , after seeing so many recommendations on this forum for Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurance, we took out private health insurance through him with Salus a year ago  and we’ve had more than our monies worth in the last couple of months . After the first 6 months you can ask Alfonso to arrange a Well Man/ Woman check which includesECG, blood tests , smear and mammogram & ultrasound for men to check the prostate area. It was discovered on this test that my husband had a large malignant  tumour on his right kidney which was removed yesterday. They also found a nodule on his lung and a lesion on the pubic bone which they’ll continue to monitor. Had we not made the move to Spain it could have been a long time before these issues were picked up & the outcome could have been very different, so I strongly recommend that anyone who hasn’t had these check ups done to make the appointment, it could really save your life , and Alfonso has been an amazing help throughout.

P.S We were offered 3 different levels of cover- the first wasn’t acceptable to gain residency so we opted for the middle cover as it seemed quite comprehensive, but doesn’t cover chemotherapy, so again for a little more expense I would recommend the higher level of cover as the oncologist said chemotherapy could cost tens of thousands of pounds ! Because of this we’re also getting paperwork prepared for the Convenio Especial “ just in case “ as now my husband’s cancer is classed as a pre-existing condition & the Convenio Especial does cover pre-existing conditions thankfully.
