I am looking for recommendations for Insurance Companies for my property.

Mapfre's quote is €300/yr which is very expensive. I found AXA very competitive when I entered my information online the were €60-80/yr

but I cannot find a number to call them on and get anyone who will talk to me in English.

Be sure not to insure the building, but only household items - that makes a big difference.

I don't know why you would say that as the standard approach to property insurance is: the building must be insured to cover anything that may cause damage to it. Typically you need enough insurance to allow for the worst case where a rebuild is needed.

We used Intasure https://www.intasure.com/spain/. Based in the uk and found them easy to deal with by phone,  and offered flexible levels of cover for buildings and contents. Paid under £260 for both for 2 bed apartment and £20k of contents,  able to pay in GBP too

Thanks to everyone for their replies and advice.

The quotation from Axa was simply the best.

in the end I am paying €115 per year - property is 67Meters Squared and contents are insured to €10000

There are lots of other elements that I won't bore you iwith. They recommended not insuring jewelry if it's covered on my primary residence insurance - which it is. I thought that was very fair advice.

The advisors I spoke to had excellent english.

My property is close to the Plaza. I was shocked to hear the fees some of the residents were paying yearly for insurance. €500 being the max I heard of.

We can recommend Right Move Insurance having dealt with their La Zenia Office for Buildings Insurance, much cheaper than the Banks or Mapre and with better cover.
