Just had our house renewal come through and the increase is very high, this is only our second year.

Currently with Iberia, anybody recommend any decent alternative providers.

Thanks

That's the usual procedure almost all insurance companies apply. You should contact an independent broker (Correduria de Seguros) and get a deal.

Hi Mary1961, certainly most companies apply the automatic updating of the insured amounts at each renewal, both for the building and contents in order to keep them updated and guarantee the 'new for old' coverage.

For this reason, premiums use to rise every year. On the other hand there are companies that also review the premiums according to the claim rate or policy usage.

Cancellations can be made by registered letter (carta certificada by adding copy of the passport) or bureaufax (at any post office) at least ONE month before expiration, otherwise the company may not accept it.

It might be worth to ask your Agent or Broker if it is possible to accept the cancellation despite being a few days out of time, since through these there might be some tolerance for these cases.

Regards, Alfonso

Thank you all as I said the renewal came thru yesterday, to day they are closed ao there is no way 30 days notice can be given .

Feel a bit stuffed really.
