Good morning

We have unfortunately had our 2 mountain bikes stolen during the night. They were out of sight, locked (lock cut) and removed from our locked garden in Pau 8.

They are 2 black decathlon mountain bikes, I'm sure long gone by now, but if anyone gets offered any.....!

We have notified our insurers but not sure if we need a crime number from the police as in the uk - does anyone know?

Cheers, Jayne

I don’t think the police in the UK would be interested in hearing about a theft in Spain. They’ll refer you to the local police, and your insurers in the UK would expect a local police report anyway.

Pete.

Pete,

Obviously I meant do I need a crime number to give to my spanish insurers from the local police as I would in the UK had it happened there! Sorry if that was not clear.

Thanks, Jayne

Sorry, I assumed that you’d bought the bikes with you on the back of the car and they were stolen while you were staying in Spain, so you’d be claiming on your UK household policy.

Why not give the insurance company a call and ask them?

I’d imagine that they would want a police report, and reporting the theft would probably be a good thing anyway.

Pete.

Go and get a police report and then contact your insurer, police need to be told about this. So sad isn’t it? Makes me so angry that people think that they can steal things from others, how do they sleep at night. Nicola :-)
