Hello, we have paid the deposit on a house in villamartin 😁 however this means that we are coming over regularly from Bristol to finalise things. Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to get to and from the airport to villamartin please? Thankyou

I gave my Lawyer Power of Attorney when I paid my house deposit in November and didn't need to go back and forward as she did everything for me. The keys were available at the end of January but I didn't pick my keys up until 4th Feb. I been over 5 times now and always hire a car . I have found it cheaper than the return taxi journey from the airport. The car was handy the first few trips for picking up items to furnish the house. The dearest I've paid for car hire is 39 euros for 13 days.  I have purchased UK yearly motor insurance. This suits me as I still reside in the UK.

Thankyou for replying. We are coming over on 21st to sort power of attorney with our lawyer. We are moving out there permanently eeeek🙈 we have looked into hiring a car until we buy one. Can I ask, which hire company do you use? And do you put down a huge deposit? And do I have to arrange my own insurance? Or is that included in the hire cost? Sorry for asking so many questions 😁

I've used doyouspain.com for car hiring., various companies are available form this website. Stay clear of Goldcar they charged me for  a scratch that was on the car when I took my photos just after collecting the keys. I've used Firefly a couple of times without any problem. If you are hiring a car in the Airport the cars are parked in the multi storey car park which is very dark. Try and get a car rep to look over the car with you. A phone torch and camera are handy for identifying scratches in the dark and to take photo evidence. I always rent full to full. Heading back to the airport there is  a petrol station at the side of the non toll road 332 about 8 km from the airport. Fill up the tank there and keep your receipt. I filled up at the petrol station at Leroy Merlin before going to the airport and it was just over 3 euros when I got to the petrol station near the airport. Not bad for a 50 minute journey!

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice on long term rental costs.

Hi there we used Victoria Car Hire last year you are picked up in minibus from airport only a few minutes to car company on N 332. We did 2 months approx 100 euros a week including insurance but as over 70 yrs you have to take this. Think you have to have large deposit set aside on your credit card if you don't take insurance. Taken back to airport in minibus on return we have rented with Record Go before in the airport which was reasonable but now very expensive. Give Adrian at Calpe office an email you fill in all info online so there were no queues on pickup and drop off.
