We recently took possession of our new holiday apartment in Los Dolses on 27 June We had a Connection charge of €400 euros which was paid to builder. This was followed by a bill for €148 when we were in apartment beginning July. We have returned home after 12 days and we have yet another bill for €28 from the electricity company Ionenergia. I know electric charges are expensive in Spain but we have used apartment for 12days !!! Is this normal. We were told the first bill is always high but subsequent bills will be low but the time frame between bills is 2weeks ???? Anyone any experience.

Without knowing the details of the periods that the bills cover, and what the breakdown of the bills is, it’s impossible to say.

He’s, I understand that, but what do the bills actually say?

Are they both from the same company or is one from Iberdrola?

What period do they cover and what do they say about standing charges, consumption tariff, potentia etc etc.

Unless you share that information, we’d just be guessing.

Pete.

Its in Spanish. All we know is we have received 2 bills within 3 weeks of taking possession of our apartment.

And you won’t know any more than that unless you tell us what the bills say. Believe it or not, there are people on the forum who can actually read Spanish and understand fully what their utility bills mean!

If you want out help in determining if there’s been some sort of error with your bills then take a photo of them and blank-out information that’s personal to you, then post the photos here.

Pete.

Hi there, we had similar bills for a new build for similar period.

After querying with our lawyer and our sales agent, we’ve ascertained that the builders charged €400 fee to do the work surrounding the connections (GAMA) , then Iberdrola took Direct Debit for €148 for the initial connection and meter or whatever. Then the smaller amount of €15 in our case was normal monthly bill DD

I am waiting with anticipation to see what the next Direct debit may bring after we’ve been there for 3 weeks with the air con on full blast! 😀
