Hi there
My husband and I are hoping to retire to Spain this year. We have been watching a few places on utube. I have taken a liking to Mijas. We are looking for a nice community spirit especially during winter months.
We are a very sociable couple. Looking forward to meeting new people and making friends.
Feed back on this will be much appreciated.
Regards
Liz woollard
Ps we hope to visit this place next month

Hi, looking at a property in La Canalosa which we love. Please can someone let me know if La Canalosa was impacted by the floods last year? The property seems to be on flat ground not too far from mountains Thank you.

Hi All.
Looking through internet posts yesterday about the 30,000 expats that have bought property in spain only to find that the purchase of the land was not completed leaving the home owner in a position that is impossible to sell.
Does anyone have any views/ experience of such or is this just another scare story.
This is obviously a concern for myself as we are currently looking to buy a property in spain. Any response would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance
Kelvin

Hi. Myself and my wife are planning to move to spain in the next 6 months.
We have been told that to apply for residency we either have to own a property or have a long term rental contract.
We were planning to stay with relatives in spain while we looked for and then purchased a property.
Is it possible to apply for residency when staying with relatives.
Any advice or info would be appreciated.
Thanks
kelvin

Hello we are thinking of moving to this area as we've seen a lovely property for sale. Neither of us are familiar with this part of Spain, as we've only spent time further south around Mojacar. I actually found a property in this area online, by accident. Any information about the area would be greatly appreciated ie things to do locally, nearest doctor and hospital, and is English spoken generally in medical establishments. Is there a good social life in the area? ie do people get together or is it more isolated generally. We are retired and hubby is quite active and rides a bike, I am active but prefer to lunch with friends rather than doing anything sporty. A pool is about as sporty as I get, as I love to be in water. Any help/info/tips anyone can give us would be most welcome. It's a big risk upping sticks and moving to a place we know zero about. But, I do like an adventure. We feel if we make this move and get it wrong, it would be difficult to sell and return to the UK. Many thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

Hello perhaps someone can give me an idea of the cost of living in and around Canalosa. I am retired on a pension and my partner hasn't retired yet, so we would have to live on my pension of 1400E. We would be buying a property, so bills and food etc. I am not sure this is enough to live on. Do you think it is?

Hello we are a retired couple thinking of moving to this area. We live in the countryside in the UK and due to arthritis I need to move somewhere warmer. I have a few concerns obviously, as I am not at all familiar with this area. I have visited Spain many times, usually Mojacar and along that coastline. I actually lived in Sitges in the 60s and have always hankered to retire there. It seems the house we are interested in is about 15 miles from a doctors office, which is a concern as I take it the doctor doesn't call out in Spain. We could take out private medicine but I am not sure if that would help. ALso I don't know where the nearest hospital would be for emergencies. The health service in this part of the UK is eroding daily, and I am wondering if Spain has reached the same crisis with healthcare. These are considerations when you're the wrong side of 65! Any help or info anyone can offer would be most appreciated. Thank you.
