Does anyone know if I were to bring a Miele washing machine from the U.K. to Spain whether it would work, obviously with a plug adapter?
Thank you

I Don't see why not. Everything electrical should be OK here. It might cost more to bring it than a new one from a local shop.

We brought ours with us along with our other furniture, it worked fine ( with adapter) I used to buy up all the 3 to 2 pin adapters I could get in the UK, eventually as things wear out or are changed you will need the adapters less and less. We have the opposite problem now as we are selling up and moving back to the UK.

It's not necessary to have plug adapters for electric appliances as you can easily exchange the UK plug directly to a 2 pin Spanish plug which has connectors for 3 wires. I've done that with all my electric appliances.

The problem is likely to be if it needs repairing. Spanish technicians are likely to be very uncooperative re appliances not bought here as frequently the specifications are different and there may be difficulties with parts etc.
We left all our appliances, including a fairly new washing machine because we didn’t think it worth the possible hassle of bringing them. Miele and all other quality appliances are easily available here.

Hi, Steve is correct to advise changing the plug and in fact I too would strongly suggest you do that rather than use adaptors because the adaptors can get very hot and burn out when the heater of the washer is on and especially given that adaptors are not made as well as plugs. I would also advise you buy plugs from a reputable electrical supplier specially made for high consuming appliances ie. washers, dishwashers, electrical heaters, kettle and toaster and vacuums. Also deep fat fryers if you bring a UK one. Anything with a heater or a motor over 1kw.There is a higher incidence of sockets also overheating and even burning out when adaptors are used with these appliances for long duration. You can often see a yellowing inside a socket of high consumption usage. Be safe not sorry. As to returning to Uk its a doddle to rewire back with a UK plug.

Pauline
Yes it will work fine.

Thank you for your reply . Is it ok to change the plugs even if they are moulded on?
