Still paying for someone else’s Electric after nearly a Year

Some of you may remember my two sons own apartment on Campoamor golf and have been struggling to get help from Iberdrola as they know for a fact, it’s been proved that they are paying for some one else’s electric for nearly a year. Came to light about 11 months ago when no one had been there for months and the electric bills were coming in at 70+ euros, one was 168 euros and so on. They have finally after the longest battle got someone from Iberdrola who has checked meters and said, “yes you are paying for some one else’s meter”, Hooray, got there in the end. They have said it will be very difficult to sort out, at least they’ve acknowledged my boys were right, just wait, wait, wait now for some sort of closure.

I do remember your original post about this issue and I'm delighted to hear that your sons have made some progress. Many thanks for the update - I hope your next update will be telling us that Iberdrola has finally refunded their money.

Hi, this is great news for you! Do you have any idea of who to contact at iberdrola as I have had this problem for 3-4 years and am getting nowhere with it! I had a €217 bill for November and we weren’t even in Spain. I have spoken to them a lot but don’t get any help. Thanks

so very sorry for you, that is the only way we found out when no one was staying there for months, big bills kept coming in.

Couldn’t give you a name at Iberdrola but my boys got their solicitor/ accountant on to it and also the security guards who they pay to patrol their gated community agreed to hold key for them when finally Iberdrola accepted there was a problem and sent someone to look at meters while the boys weren’t there.

Just keep on at Iberdrola, my son phoned them dozens of times over the last year and wouldn’t give up, nor should you. Goodness knows how many other people are being scammed like this, paying for other peoples electricity.
