Thank you.  I have a Flexplus account.  Did you phone them to check you were covered?

Yes. Well before we travelled my friend phoned and they said we were covered.

I need clarification so also phoned and recorded the call (after advising them).

Our plans changed as we were originally travelling on flights made before Covid so when easyJet cancelled and we made new flights in August with Ryanair I phoned again.

I explained that we were travelling against government advice but cover is still as explained previously.

Doesn’t it prove that we are better off to perhaps pay a little more for our travel insurance and get the best cover?   Buying insurance is a difficult job as we sometimes tend to look for value for money instead of getting the very best cover. Let this pandemic be a lesson to us all.

Thanks I will phone them tomorrow to check.  Nationwide  originally said that any travel booked before cut off date in March would be covered but not anything booked subsequently.  I've only just booked my flights for this week but they are using a voucher for cancelled Easter flights so will see what they say.

Hey it's great to be back. On the forum not Spain Alas as I could not stand wearing a mask in public. Hey ho. Onto the OP question my situalion is I never get insurance as they will use any trick not to pay out. Essential I suppose would be to collect personal effects if moving or to visit sick/infirm relatives. To sign essential legal documents and suchlike.

We have just returned to uk having spent 4 weeks in our recently purchased house near Villamartin. We drove without travel insurance-all well no problems at borders or on the road. Well worth the trip overall -felt much safer in Spain than usual uk
