Hi

Just looking for a bit of advice.  We are looking to buy around LaZenia/Playa Flamenca/Cabo Roig area.  I am just wondering what work would be like for a tradesman who can turn his hand to a lot… perhaps for English speaking customers.  He is bricklayer by trade but also does fencing, patios, carpenters work like garden rooms,  pergolas, etc ,  landscaping, refurbishment work, he’s an excellent painter.  Below is just some of the many things he has created here in Ireland !  Very reliable and won’t rip you off.  Is cash payment out of the question here and would there be much uptake for work for him there with his experience? Thanks in advance

It depends mainly which passport he has, if EU passport, then less problematic. If UK passport, virtually impossible. Since Brexit one cannot simply move here and start work. The correct visa would be required, and to get a visa permitting him to work is very difficult as all work has to be offered to EU citizens first. He would need a contract from an employer, who would then make the visa application for him, for these kind of skills, the area is already overwhelmed. The other possibility is to legally set up as self employed, but that also is more difficult than UK, requiring official business plans etc to obtain the visa. Also there is a minimum income requirement, plus full healthcare policy.
