I recently advertised an Apple Pencil for sale on Facebook, I had a person reply saying they wanted to buy it. We corresponded then this person said send me your name, home and email address with your WhatsApp telephone number for me to pass to a currier service so they can collect.
This I did. The next thing was the currier service telephone me and said they have sent me an email and I should click on the link and input my bank details so payment for the item could be made. SCAM.The currier company is named Inpost so before I clicked the link I went online and researched this company.
I contacted their customer services and asked if the telephone number which appeared in the WhatsApp call was there’s. (+2250769659359) +225 is the country code for Ivory Coast. Within one hour I received a response.
This response said it was not them, their website had been cloned and I was dealing with scammers.
I have uploaded pics of this person along with their photo ID which they sent me. Check out the ID photo and details, they do look dodgy.
I have contacted Facebook and informed them of this scam. I was lucky, I did my research. Don’t you become a victim.
