I have been having problems with my mail, in fact in the last 6 months we have only received 3 letters, Before anyone says "You aren't very popular" I know we have been sent numerous letters locally and from the UK as an example, The pension rise info sent on the 7th March, they say, and my new credit card sent from a local bank on the 4th April, they said today when I called. Strangely enough packets arrive OK!

I have sent a complaint to Correos.es and they say they will investigate. I got a ref number and a pdf with my old (6 years ago, Bearcelona) address in the heading. So yet another complaint about that and the fact that I had put my address in the earlier complaint. I also gave the local Correos service a single star and mentioned also that no-one answers the Phone.

A couple of years ago I had some hassles with the dis-service too and after the postman (we've had numerous since then) lied and shouted his mouth off. We got a few apologies from them including the postman.

Have many others had similar probs?

Sorry to hear about your problems. However , it sounds to me as though you are becoming the problem.

Well that was nice of you!

My problem started with getting hit by Ransomeware ( Do you know what that is and what it does to your computer, 200GB trashed, documents, personal info and much more. I reported it to the national police and we sent some docs back and forth) in January.  Amazon said we are cancelling your orders as your account has been compromised. Cancelling means also that items paid for already are effectively lost. After at least 10 calls to Amazon and also partaking in the forum, Finally Amazon told me to go to the bank with the letter they sent me and get my money back due to my account being compromised, Great but my credit card had to be cancelled and a new one sent to me. This has not arrived yet, sent on 4/04, They said it would arrive in 3 to max 10 days. My lobster account no longer works because the credit card was cancelled and Lobster was not paid, So no Phone!  All my fault because I downloaded official driver software from a company and there was a virus in it, ie. latest version of Deja-Vu.

Yes I am definitely the problem!

If you receive and accept bad service or worse and do nothing, then you are part of the problem!

Whilst I completely understand your difficulties, the very unfortunate Ransomware experience and lack of postal deliveries would not seem to be related. Correos would have nothing to do with your computer system.

Sometimes mail can take a long time, a couple of recent official letters to our Apartado and a replacement banking device took a very long time, several weeks after due delivery date. I am still waiting for a birthday card containing a small amount of money from a friend, sent last October. It is sometimes easier to have mail directed to a personal Apartado within the local office, rather than delivery to one’s house, which is a luxury which those of us miles out in the campo do not enjoy!

Correos has an online presence and it may be easier to contact their customer service department directly via this route.

The Ransomeware has nothing whatever to do with the post it was just the cause of cancelling my credit card.

I contacted Correos customer service and they sent me a confirmation email with a postal address that I had 6 years ago even though my complaint had my current address of the last 5 years+. I am currently awaiting 6 letters posted from 07/03/24 onwards.

Tomorrow I will send myself a letter locally. Our mail is delivered to a group of postboxes on the urbanisation.

Never ever send money by post the Xray machines pick up the stripe and postal workers do the rest.

It used to be a scam, people sent a small amount of money in an envelope and insured it for say $100, of course it never arrived and the sender claimed under the insurance.

Regarding your credit card, your bank will offer a service to collect the new card from them. I think if I thought there was a problem with my postal service, that’s what I would have opted to do. I suggest you go back into your bank and get that card cancelled and a new one sent to the branch for you to collect.

Have you asked if any others on your community have been receiving mail. Also holidays and sickness within correos  aren’t covered in the same way as Royal Mail.

If you have frequent complaints with correos, then arrange to have your mail delivered to a postbox at your local post room shop.

I asked Santander on Wednesday if I could pick up my card at the bank, She said "No, only at domicilio" She said wait a couple more days, then if it does not arrive I will have to go there and cancel the one I have not received. I can see from my account that it has a different number etc. Another Brit further down the road has had no problems. Last summer I got a mail from a UK Co saying that a letter had been returned regarding a small inheritance, I had been informed by a cousin and the company contacted him for my contact details.

A Spanish neighbour ( 10 houses away) was at the mailboxes yesterday also complaining about the crap postal service. He has 2 houses and 2 mailboxes.

So rent  a mailbox, the charge is minimal and  the problem  is solved.

These complaints about the postal service has been going on in these threads for many years.

We seem to be lucky where I am as we get them on a regular basis except in August when the postal worker is on holiday and no-one fills in.

Orihuela is reported in the local press as having some 3,000 items of mail (including 1,000 letters) undelivered due to a lack of postal workers. They say the workforce is half what it should be and holds up delivery all the time. I should think other places are like that.

Our mail is a community set of postboxes which the postie has a key to and he seems to find it easy if the mail is addressed correctly although we have had occasions where other letters are put in our box and, I assume, vice versa. I just take the misplaced one and put it in the correct one.

But all our mail is delivered on time, usually within the week of it being posted in UK or here. There was one period a couple of years ago where we had no mail for nearly 3 months and a visit to the local Correos said nothing was waiting but we miraculously got a big bundle just a couple of days later. Posties are contract workers and, if they go on holiday, should arrange someone else to take over the route but appears not to be getting done.

As said, if they are having difficulty finding your address (and they do tend to alter street names and numbers fairly regularly) then rent a box either at the Correos or one of the many drop box centres they have.

Strange, I have Sabadell and they deliver my card to the place I decide, home, Spain or my local branch.                              "Another Brit further down the road has had no problems" must make you wonder where the real problem lies.
