Oh no, you mean you were actually there sitting inside your own home and they came in and kicked you out !! WTF***

You haven't told us where exactly you are, in the city, Alicante, Torrevieja, out in the sticks, in an Urbanisation ?

There is the 48 hour law concerning squaters, if you catch them squatting in the first 48 hours the police have the power to remove and arrest them. And if that's the case and the guardia civil didn't do their job you can go to the police and thus prove you acted inside the 48 hours by calling the GC which were negligent and retrospectively have them kicked out, take a spanish speaker with you

This is nothing short of a scandal. WTF are Spain hoping to achieve by dismissing the rights of homeowners or tennants??? I'm assuming that incidents like this are rare, but people need to be aware of this.

Yes.

It's not safe sitting in your own house .

I did complain to the Guardia Civil and they've done nothing about it .

I need to complain to a higher authority .

Squatters broke into my house and the Guardia civil  were informed within a few hours but they did nothing but offer the squatters assistance  .

Most of my possessions have been stolen and sold .

I have been told not to return to my house, and that I will have to pay for their expenses.

Can I complain about the Guardia Civil treating me like a criminal?

My God this is disgusting I am so sorry it must be awful

They cannot get away with this both the squatters and the Guardia

Good luck and so sorry again

Abro, you've given your forum location as Torrevieja, I presume that's where you have your property. I know some Brits there who might be able to help. Abro sounds Spanish in which case that's even worse, 70 year old robbed and made homeless in his own country by his own countrymen

Abro, you need to get this into all the Spanish and local newspapers! The national government need to be shamed to the world for allowing this to happen with, it seems, the blessing of the Guardia Civil! They CAN introduce emergency measures and change legislation overnight and put an end to this! PP? VOX? This is YOUR opportunity to make a statement and DO SOMETHING!

I'm just wondering if this post from Abro is genuine? Making melodramatic statements like "it's not safe to live in your own house" & pointing out that he's quite elderly,  could be some warped attempt to deter Brits and/or others from buying properties or moving to the area. The facts,  as presented by the OP,  I personally find hard to believe. I notice that Abro only joined the forum 2 days ago. That in itself may be completely innocent & of course,  I could be totally wrong, however, these were my initial thoughts.

Regards.

Abro's experience is very odd, squatters only go into empty homes when the owner is away and keep it quiet for 48 hours after which they have squatters rights to stay. Any attempt to do as Abro says would send them to prison, no squatter would do that. Squatters are usually poor gypsy families looking for somewhere to live taking advantage of the laws in Spain, not going into a property like mobsters, beating residents, throwing them out after robbing them. The police would quickly surround the property with sirens and have fun arresting the buggers

Abro is not my real name .

I'm English .

I'm am somewhat afraid to complain  about the Guardia Civil .

My wife was there too .

She was knocked unconscious by the burglar .I called the Guardia Civil and I asked for an ambulance but only the Guardia came and we were effectively taken to the police station and detained for three hours , whilst the burglars were left in our house.

We had to find a hotel and  make our own way to the hospital when my wife was well enough .

Go back to England one of the officers told us .

Opening post says squatters (plural) attacked him but subsequent posts say burglar (singular) attacked his wife. Hmmm?
