Sabadell bank asking for details of income

Hi hope everyone is well

My wife and l have a bank account with Sabadell which we have had for 10 years.

It is a joint account we don’t live in Spain but use the account for money transfers,Suma 

etc.My wife had a letter posted to UK from Spain asking for mandatory documentation.

We are both retired and my wife gets a pension .l need not receive this request and waited

a month to see if this was a standard letter sent to all foreign customers.

My question is as anyone else had a similar letter ?

Everbody with a Spanish bank account will be asked for documentation. Just scan a recent wage/pension slip, and send it to them. Ask them to give you a receipt when they receive it. Did mine last week and got a reply next day.

They need establish where your money originated from to rule out Money laundering. There has to be a paper trail for all money nowadays.

Yes it is standard practice with all of the banks here. If you do not provide the information they will freeze any payments going in to your account.

I could not get it to work online. A friend have me an email address. Give them your address, NIE number, account number, name and documentation and ask them to give you a receipt. I sent the mail to the following address

[email protected]                         The 0687 is the branch number, so it will be different for each branch.                        La Marina branch is (ES56)                       0081 0687 **** **** ****       The second four digits of the account number. Hope this is understandable 🤔

Thank you, your instructions are very clear and it is much appreciated.  I’ll email them tomorrow, I’m at the same branch as you, so at least I know the email system works.

That's a good idea, if it is not done within 90 days they lock your account and stop all direct debits. (af far as I can understand their letter in spanish)

My letter came in English. It says that if documents are not received 60 days from the date of the letter, deposits will not be accepted to the account. If by 90 days from the date of the letter no documents have been received, procedures will commence to end the contract.
