Thank you, we are doing the same on Wednesday. Xx

very useful post, much appreciated since we will be driving down to visit our place on the Costa Blanca in about a week's time.
Can anyone who has driven down to Spain in the last few weeks share their experience and approach with respect to the FCS form?
I saw another person ask the same question in the thread but no definitive answer. I understand you need the French declaration form completed but what about the FCS form when arriving by road into Spain. I've scoured the net and as far as I can tell you cannot complete the form without a flight number which suggests its only relevant for air travel. I've also seen some suggestion (for example here): https://diaryofaspanglishgirl.com/2020/07/01/compulsory-travel-document-if-travelling-to-spain-from-july-1st-2020-through-covid-19/
that indicates the FCS form is not required if arriving by road but suggests filling out a traveller locator form here:
However this is equally baffling to me, as its an IATA form and the very first field on the form asks for flight number, which isn't surprising since IATA is the International Air Travel association!

We did a similar journey on 8 July , stayed one night near Orleans and a second night near Girona in northern Spain. However in Catalan areas you have to wear masks in all public spaces inside and outside.
We are in Torrevieja and very reassuring to see the diligence around mask wearing and all the other social distancing measures put in place. The Spanish authorities are clearly trying to control the virus and the vast vast majority of people are following the rules .
Hi
We did the same thing on July 2 nd after spending 14 days in quarantine in Oxford after arriving from Atlanta Georgia. We spent 3 days driving through France stopping in Orleans , Castets and bellmunt d ‘urgell Spain. Had the same experience with the tunnel, paperwork wasn’t asked for, even for my two dogs. Services were all open , roads were quiet We just arrived in altea on the 5 Th renting a villa for 7 months at first ,to better scope out the area. We did pass Lleida which had just gone back into lockdown because of a spike but they were asking all non residents to leave beforehand not trapping people there. If worried about flights it’s a decent option to take.

Good luck to you both. I hope you did not go over the speed limit in France and I am talking just 2 kilometres over the limit. They caught me on the same route, 2 kilometres over the limit on the same route. 4 months later I got a ticket and they hounded me until I paid. Totally wrong. Fran...

...ce can chase us if we speed in their country, however the U.K does not chase French speeders if they go over our limits. There, sorry to bore you, just got it off my chest.
Yeah, it’s not nice! The DVLA are private now and they sell your vehicle details to the appropriate authority. But to prove who is driving at the time is another matter! I believe the French have the same system as Spain where the vehicle is insured and not the owner therefore any one over a certain age can drive the vehicle.

After a 3 month delay in lockdown and many cancelled flights later, we decided to drive to our home in Albir. Via the Eurotunnel through France into Spain. We were anxious due to confusing reports about what papers had to be completed so we want to share our experience with you and hope that ...Read more...
...You find it useful. Our travel date was 4th July
The Eurotunnel terminal building is open but Starbucks is the only place open along with the toilets. Queues for Starbucks are long and food options very limited. You cannot sit in the terminal and have to return to your car.
We had to show our passports and nobody asked for the health declarations that we were advised to complete. All very easy
You have to stay in your car on the tunnel and you cannot use toilets but you do not need to wear a mask.
All services in France are fully open including seating in Macdonalds, Burger King etc. Masks are not compulsory and we saw very few people wearing them.
We stayed at a hotel for one night in Claremont Ferrand which was a 7 hour drive from Calais. A nice little town with plenty of bars and restaurants. They were all open and we had no problem walking in and getting a table for a meal and drinks. Again no masks necessary.
We drove straight passed Spanish border. No need to stop, show passports or give any details as to where we are staying.
Spanish service stations are fully open and more people were wearing masks in the indoor areas. We can now start our new life in Albir🍾
It is not that masks are ‘unnecessary’ in a given situation. The govt has said In confined spaces masks can protect others, if we (unwittingly or otherwise) have the virus. You protect people around you, they protect you by wearing a mask. If they’re not wearing one that’s no reason for you not to wear one.

Yup. Wear the mask folks, be a good friend and neighbour. Small price to pay for free movement and it's no big deal.
Just to add our experience, just completed the drive down last night. No forms required at either Euro tunnel France side or into Spain. Apart from heavy traffic in Rouen all very pleasant. We did notice a massive queue of trucks on the other side of the motorway heading back into France around Irun, might be worth factoring in some slack time on any return journey if doing that route.
