Why not take the Chunnel it takes 35mins and costs less.

I Googled routes on their maps app then you can Google for tolls etc.

The fastest routes will take you through Paris on The Peripherique, avoid it if you it’s a nightmare. I planned to be on it at 6.30am to hopefully miss the rush but not a  chance it took about 2hrs to get around Paris.

Be aware that there is an emissions charge at certain times for some major cities which you need to arrange before travelling.

If you arrive via Normandy the quickest route is.  Tours, Poitiers, Bordeaux, Bidart, Pamplona, Zaragoza, Teruel,  Alicante. About 18hr drive.

I Eurotunnel and still come this way. Toll roads all the way. The Paris route is more expensive in terms of tolls.

Fuel, Tunnel and tolls about £700 for a return trip. 1500 miles each way door to door.

We did Portsmouth to Santander at the weekend, from Santander to La Marina took 8.45 hours with one stop and was 545 miles, one toll of €3.60

Hi,

Just a word of warning I wish I'd had before driving across Spain from Bilbao. (Apologies if you are already aware) you have to be careful if you stop off at a cafe/shop or petrol station whilst travelling through the Pyrenees. I and a driver ahead of me had our tyres slashed and were then followed until we pulled over so that they could rob us. Apparently, it's common practice. Getting off the motorway was a nightmare and absolutely freezing once it got into the early hours.

Hope your journey is less eventful....pleasant even.
