We have to go to Alicante for 2 hospital appointments 5 hours apart does anyone know of a soft play or activity centre for a child of 6 during the day beftween 1 pm and 6pm

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you are looking for? There is a place called El Mundo de los Niños (The world of children) very close to the marina. www.illusionworld.es
It is an outdoor play area, like a mini theme park for children. They offer a 'pay as you play' or wristband option... I would recommend the wristband option as it works out cheaper. It is not quite disney but kids always love it!
