Hello fellow seniors!
I'm British, but have worked in a few different countries in the EU and get my pensions from these countries albeit small, due to the worked years.
But I have lived in an EUROPEAN country now for 22 years and want citizenship here.
. I'm receiving my British pension which is normal. I'm seriously considering changing my British passport for the EU country I live in.
Here is my big worry, if I get another citizenship and renounce my British one - can the British government stop paying my pension??
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thank you for reading.
Kind regards
Lynn
We own a holiday apartment in Alicante and a car. When my sister arrived a few days ago there was a card in our postbox saying that they needed to pick something up from post office but by the time they got there it was too late (over 7 days). She thinks it may be for a speeding fine, is there any way we can find out about this online please?
Hi All,
I only want to have the internet with fiber optic cable with a router.
Can somebody please tell me what are the good internet service provider in Spain?
I heard O2 https://o2online.es offers good fixed fee contract. I called their English website number: 1551. I get turbo speed Spanish.
Can anybody please provide me with a contact person in O2 that speaks English so I can ask questions about their packages?
For a 2 year contract I think they offer fixed monthly payments for the internet with fiber optic cable.
Names and details of other Internet Service Providers are also welcome.
I reside in 46160 Lliria (Valencia)
Many thanks.
Cheers

Hi everyone. I'm about to start the planning and costing of moving the furniture of a 4 bed property over to Alicante way quite possibly the Hondon Valley. I'd love to hear you experiences and recommendations. Also white good are we better to leave them behind and buy Spanish ...like the unanimous vote I got for leaving all car's and bikes behind. So greatfully for your information and insight
Hi All,
Without notification the City Council has suddenly proposed a new project to change and modify the construction infrastructure for the streets and want all the residents to pay for it. Not all residents have been informed.
Old legal City Council documents do not mention any changes or modifications.
Since all the old streets were originally legally assigned to the City Council are they therefore automatically legally responsible for all the changes, and therefore all residents are exempt from all payments?
Let me know.
Cheers

How to Make Sure a Plot Is Truly Buildable?
Every now and then, I receive messages from people who are about to buy a plot of land and want to build their dream home in Spain — but don’t know where to start.
Just recently, someone asked me:
“How do we make sure the plot is definitely legal to build on? We’re worried about paying for land and services and later finding out that we can’t get a license.”
That’s a very valid concern. In fact, it’s one of the most important questions to clarify before you spend a single euro on the property.
The very first step is to request what’s called a “Cédula Urbanística” (Urban Planning Certificate) from the local Ayuntamiento (Town Hall).
This is an official document confirming whether the land is classified as buildable and under which urban planning conditions — such as:
maximum building height,
plot coverage,
building distances,
and possible limitations (for example, green zones, protected areas, etc.).
It’s a formal and reliable statement issued by the Town Hall — not just someone’s opinion or a note from a real estate agent.
With this document, you can be sure what you’re legally allowed to build.
As for construction costs, at the moment they usually range between 1,500 € and 2,000 € per square metre, depending on design, materials and level of finish.
That gives a good idea for budgeting — and helps to avoid unpleasant surprises once you start comparing builder quotes.
Over the years I’ve seen many people struggle because they relied on verbal promises or started projects without checking local regulations first.
Having the right information early saves a lot of time, money and frustration later on.
If you already have a plot in mind, it’s worth letting a professional review it before making any commitment.
That way, you’ll know if the land is truly ready for building and what steps come next — from permits to design and coordination with builders.
Hi everyone, we are moving over to Costa Blanca and are interested to know what people b4 us have gleaned regarding a car. Should we purchase a left-hand drive here (UK) before we come? Purchase in Spain or convert what we have to left-hand drive, which will be pricey I know as it's a prestige car, the advantage of this option is that we know the history of the vehicle. All responses greatfully received
Drafts aren’t “normal for sliders.” Drafts are a defect.
Above 100 m (Murcia) 200 m (Alicante) elevation (Zone C3): windows/doors must not leak more than 9 m³/h·m² at 100 Pa. In practice, ask for at least Class 3 (UNE-EN 12207)—Class 4 is better.
Lower areas the limit is 27 m³/h·m² at 100 Pa; Class 2 often suffices.
What this means for you
If you feel air movement, hear whistling, or see dust streaks around frames, that’s a sign the spec wasn’t met or the installation is poor (gaskets, meeting-stile pressure, perimeter sealing).
Ask your contractor for the CE/DoP sheet and the air-permeability class (tested to UNE-EN 1026/12207). If performance or installation falls short, the contractor must correct it.
If it becomes a dispute
A blower-door test (UNE-EN ISO 9972) provides objective evidence. It pressurizes the home and pinpoints leaks (often at windows/doors). Match the findings to your zone limits and the product’s declared class to challenge inaccurate paperwork and justify remediation.
On the past two occasions Flamenco Parking have taken my car with plenty of petrol for my return journey and it has been delivered back with the reserve petrol light on twice in the early hours of the morning, and the roads to the parking facilities, are unusable.
I found the company very unprofessional and I would not trust them with any vehicle I have of value.
There used to be two or three year deals but that is to get the money in.
The future of this company and the way it's run is far from professional and I and other people have been let down for over an hour with no vehicle, and unsure if I could make it home in the dark on two occasions, because of disappearing petrol , I cannot allow
My valuable goods to be abused ,and parked in a road so bad it is only a matter of time before the suspension and base of the vehicle will be wrecked.
I have asked for a refund for the balance of the contract,as I have absolutely no faith in the dodgy set up they call flamenco parking.
I believe the car hire is in liquidation
And helpful members of staff are no longer there.
My car from start to finish was not secure in any way. Avoid flamenco parking,or take your chances
