How do I get a Suma Bill / Receipt showing The Valor Castral for 2023 - 5 replies
Hi Everyone,
I need to obtain the Suma Bill which was paid October 2023 for this years taxes to be paid in December 24.
I visited the Suma office last year (Aug 23) and changed our banking details from Sabadell to Fineco and it was paid no problem, Oct 23.
I also got a duplicate copy of the 2022 bill which showed the Castral Value, had Spanish Tax Forms do the Modelo210 forms and then paid the taxes at the bank.
I also changed the details from our Fiscal Rep receiving this to ourselves and gave the guy our email address. He said that it would be forwarded in due course.
This year we had to change banks again due to EU rules for non residents went to the Suma office and changed the details. I asked for the 2023 Bill and she said it would be forwarded by email. However, typical Spanish, it has not arrived.
Have tried to contact Suma on their website to obtain the Receipted Bill showing the Valor Cat. but have not received a reply.
Any advice would be appreciated as we are not due to visit Spain again this year to re visit a Suma Office.
How long does it take for me to receive a return on my UK NIC Class 3 vol. payments and is it worth it? - 25 replies
Hi All, Does anybody know how long does it take to receive a return on UK NIC Class 3 voluntary payments, and is it worth it?
UK DWP letter
Estimate up to year 05/04/2023 I'd get £76.41 a week & this may change in the future; based on current laws no guarantee.
If I contribute until year 05/04/32 forecast is £133.29 a week & this may change in the future; based on current laws no guarantee.
I can enhance my forecast to £221.20 a week and this may in the future; based on current laws no guarantee.
This is all based on my UK National Insurance record up to 05/04/2032.
UK HMRC letter states
I've 11 qualifying years of NICs up to 05/04/2024.
To pay NICs volunary contributions for Class 3 form CF83 needs to be completed and returned.
They state I could pay voluntary NICs from years 2006 to 2023. Cost = £12,342.70pence.
Purchasing tax years 2006 - 2016 individually each year will approximately add a further £5.65 (I assume weekly) to my current State Pension amount. I'd have to pay £6,625.30pence. How long do I need to live to receive all my money back?
Purchasing tax years 2016 to 2023 each year will approximately add a further £6.32 to my current State Pension amount. I'd have to pay £6,541.60pence. How long do I need to live to receive all my money back?
If I purchase all 16 years my State Pension estimate would increase by £171.50. (I assume they mean per week).
How long do I need to live to receive all my money back?
I may also make qualifying years in the future through voluntary NI contributions; each extra qualify year generally incrased my weekly State Pension by 1/35 (about £6.32 (I assume per week). until I reach the full State Pension amount or my final tax year before State Pension age.
They also state if I add 9 future NI qualifying years they estimate that my State Pension would increase to £133.29 (assume per week).
This would mean from year 2006 to 2013 I'd have to first pay £6,625.30 NI voluntary class 3 contributions.
If I pay for 9 future NI qualifying years (before 25/04/2025 deadline date) how long would I need to live to receive a return on all my money (and for my next of kin to inherit)?
As a Spanish resident in Spain how much tax and social contributions does one pay on their UK State Pension in Valencia, Spain?
Is anybody else in this situation, and have they paid?
Is it worth it?
With the global turbulence I'm very concerned that if I paid any amount I might not receive a financial return on my hard earned State Pension.
Just purchased property in Alicante City - 10 replies
After years of visiting, at last we now own an apartment in Alicante City...not far from the Mercado. We complete the purchase in November and would like to hear from anyone that offers housekeeping services and advice on owning/running our new home for the first six months or so...Someone to show us the way so-t-speak. We will be visiting initially (90 day rule unfortunately) but hope and intend to make the place our permenant home soon. The apartment is in very good decorative order and will be nicely furnished...So its someone who can make sure all is well in our absence and make the place ready to welcome us when we are here. Very poor Spanish at present. Apologies.

Property wanted to rent: Short term rental for 1 month or so - 1 replies
Hi all,
I am an IT contractor/freelancer based in sunny Manchester, UK. I'm looking to buy a flat in Spain in the near future but would like to rent first to get a feel of the area and look at properties etc.
So I am looking for a place to rent for around a month or so. I will be working remotely while there.
Ideal requirements:
- Around the Alicante city area or easily accessible via public transport
- 1 or 2 bedrooms.
- Clean/modern decor
- Balcony or outside area.
- Reliable Internet connection
I am flexible with the dates as I don't have school age kids. Roughly, I would be looking to rent in the last week of October or early November 2024.
Initially it would be just me and my wife staying but my adult son and his wife might join us. I have suddenly become popular when I talk about buying in Spain!
If you have a suitable property please do get in touch or send a link if you have it online.
Thank you.

Hello and recommendations for location - 3 replies
Hi everyone,
I have just joined the forum and I thought I would introduce myself.
I am currently based in Manchester UK and work as an IT contractor/freelancer.
Looking to buy a flat in the Murcia, Alicante or maybe Malaga areas. Not sure yet, hence this message. I don't intend to move permanently yet, so will be a holiday home or bolt hole as I can work remotely depending on my client.
Can you recommend ay particular areas? My main requirements are that there is some outside space, either a smallish garden or terrace/balcony. Also not too far from an airport, max 45 mins in a car.
In 2017 I lived in Alicante for a few months and worked at the EUIPO office. I really liked it but had to return to the UK.
I am learning Spanish as well, so would like an
area that is mixed with Spanish locals. Also I am not a golf fan (sorry)
so not next to a golf course!
I have just started my journey of looking for a place so will probably ask more specific questions in the future.
¡Un saludo!
Ayub M.
