Good morning everyone . We moved permanently to Toretta 3 4 weeks ago and in the process of obtaining padron . Already had one appointment ( had to wait 2 weeks on a cita previa ) only to find we didn't have appropriate paperwork - surprise surprise !! Now have a cita mid December.  My question is we want to apply for the targeta cuidano as we don't have a car and use buses on an almost daily basis.  We would like to apply in order to use on buses. However - went to the urbano transport office in la plasa yesterday to collect payment forms in advance and its closed due to technical problems.  Does anyone have any idea when it will reopen? Thanks in advance and hope you all have a fab day .

The Urbano Transport office has had technical difficulties for the last 5 weeks as I have been trying to update my Tarjeta Ciudadano/citizen card over this period of time, I have spoken many a time with the office official in Spanish and informed that there is no given time or date when the office will be up and running? You will need a up to date Padron,TIE and passport, also Spanish is only spoken, on your first visit the official will give you a bank payment slip of 7 Euro, then the official will give you a appointment to return.

Thank you for your most helpful reply.  We will keep popping by the office when we have our padron . Have a cita previa for mid December with the ayuntamiento . I have sufficient Spanish to get by I think.   Will take TIEs and passports too.  A bit frustrating for us both then it seems !

Thanks again Annie

Hello

I pass through the market often and that sign appears every other time I pass. I dont think it's staffed all the time as it's not worthwhile during the winter months, the problem is never knowing when it will be open. I can only suggest you just keep trying when ever you're in town -- you will need the padron and will make no progress without it!

I, too will check when I pass & update you if there is any news

Cheers

Thanks for your reply Elinspain  - and the offer to keep your eye on the office when in the area . As we don't have a car we do aim to limit our trips to the centro as when we first moved over the cost was anything up to 30 euros a week which over the month is quite hefty on a budget . Obviously still make a couple of trips for shopping etc weekly .

I can understand however the reduction in staff during the winter months . Will remember to take padron,  passports and TIEs when it does reopen.

Thanks again for your reply and kind offer

I went this morning to update my card and yes it was open, I was informed that for this year my card would be automatically updated, so there was no need for me to attend. This time the official who dealt with me was a young man as in past visits it was always a older gentleman. Office opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 1pm, please see uploaded photo attachment for details.
