Why not come and live in Northern Ireland? You could choose to live on the east coast of Co Down which is certainly water and has less rain. We have free travel to all residents at retirement age. You could travel by bus or rail anywhere in the whole of Ireland. ( think the same applies in the Rep of Ireland too).   No matter where you choose to live, you’ll find the people to be friendly and welcoming. It’s cheaper to live in the north which is a plus. Come over for a visit and you won’t believe how beautiful the whole island is. The coastlines are all so totally different and stunning. Rentals are still available in many places.

I think the original post referred to Ireland as the couple want to be in the European Union, as opposed to UK citizens.
