The latest copy of the "State of alarm" rules, states that if you are in a car (driver and or passenger) you must have a face mask!
Re DIY masks/ Researchers at Cambridge University tested a wide range of household materials for homemade masks. To measure effectiveness, they shot Bacillus atrophaeus bacteria (0.93-1.25 microns) and Bacteriophage MS virus (0.023 microns in size) at different household materials. It appears that cotton combined shirt materials used in a single layer are 4th after official surgical masks 89%, 2nd being vacuum cleaner filters 86%, 3rd Tea Towels 73%, 4th Cotton Combined 70%, Single layer only Doubling the layer has gains of varying efficiency.
In Fact a shirt company in Italy is now manufacturing face masks from cotton meant for shirts for the government.

Like gloves, masks need to be changed frequently. Very costly.

That does not answer my question as to the source of your comment that it is in the new rules a mask must be worn.

Easier said than done, I have looked for it but have not found it, It was in Spanish and said that whether the passenger was in the front or back they had to wear a mask. However it seemed to infer that the driver should always have a mask. My Spanish is not 100% like my Italian so you may well be right. The article referred to what you can and cannot do under the present state of alarm!
We are waiting for masks but it appears that we will never know when they arrive as there don't seem to be any postmen working in Torrevieja at the moment.
