Hi. I am subscribed to BT sports and have a VPN but cannot watch live football on BT sports on my laptop or tv.  I can get it on my phone but it will not cast to laptop/tv with Google chrome cast.  Has anyone had this problem and managed to solve it please? Is it no longer possible to do this in Spain please?

...o this in Spain please?

I don't have a problem casting from my android galaxy pad to the TV. I don't have/want any sports channels so I can't help with that but I do download films etc onto my pad and cast to the TV. My android phone is ok too.

Hi Steve

thanks very much for replying.  I will persevere with mine but did not want to spend hours on end trying and then find out it is not actually possible 😀. Thank you for taking time to reply 😀😀

The misconception with a chromecast is that it gets its data / signals from your device you are casting from. This is incorrect. The device you are casting from is basically a remote control telling the chromecast where to go on the internet. It then goes direcrtly to your router, not you device you area casting from, for its data. Therefore not going through the VPN on your device you are casting from.  Therefore you need to make sure your chrome cast is also running with / through a vpn... and as you cannot put a VPN onto a chromecast, the vpn needs to be installed at router level.

Thank you ever so much for explaining this to me as to be honest not exactly sure how these things really work😀. That does make sense now and I will look at the router and advice for installing the vpn on the router.  Thank you again for taking the time to reply it is much appreciated 😀😀

It may be bestter to instll the vpn on a different router to your main router, just connect the two together, that way you have your normal spansih internet system, and a second "vpn" connection...so no messing around with your main router and so no loss of internet should things go wrong

Thank you very much for advising of that. We have brought out another router whilst staying in Spain and sounds better idea than risk messing up the Spanish intermet system especially as we are in a rental and not own apartment 😀😀 thank you again that is such a help
