Short Film about Benidorm
Dear Benidorm Forum,
My name is Poppy Illsley. I make films, sometimes educational videos about science, and sometimes art-documentaries.
I think the city of Benidorm is a beautiful and unique place, and I am interested in making a short film about the retired / mature British community there.
In general, I am really interested in where people want to spend the latter parts of their lives, and how people choose to spend their time. I think it is a human instinct to want to be in the sea and in the sun as we get older, and I’d like to make a small documentary exploring these simple pleasures. I love the Benidorm architecture, the mountains, the desert - I think the drama of the city and the landscape somehow exaggerates these very pure human loves of ocean and sunshine.
I am writing here to try and get the lie of the land a little, I’d like to ask some of you about the city, and if anyone knows someone who they think might be an interesting interviewee - perhaps someone who is particularly philosophical about beach life, or maybe someone whose life story contrasts dramatically with their current life style.
