30 years ago I was in the exact same position as you and I decided to go on my own to the Costa Blanca, at the very last minute ....

It turned out to be the most memorable holidays of a lifetime.  The point is I had to make an effort to talk to strangers and it was actually liberating and paid it off.   I met loads of nice people and particularly a group of mixed South Africans who became life long friends.

I've had many stay as guests in uk and Ive been out to Africa twice on fanatics holidays over the years, dated one of the girls for a while too ..... so the moral of the story is self evident, what have you got to lose .... in for a penny ... plenty more fish ... nothing ventured ..... so go for it!

I say go you will enjoy it.  When my marriage of 27 years broke up I didn’t go out much for 2 years.  Then I realised time was passing me by so just started going to places on my own it was ok.  When I holiday in Spain I mostly come on my own the people are lovely.  Be brave make the effort to talk to people Spanish & expats & you’ll enjoy it.  You don’t need someone else to make you happy only you can do that.  Have a lovely time

I travel to Benidorm every winter solo and love it. Just please myself on how the day develops and meet people by chatting to them. Hope you decide to just "go for it" and Buena suerte as they say in Spain - good luck.

I'm thinking of going to Benidorm again later in the year but not sure how I would feel being on my own.

To any single female, no matter young or old...... Just GO!!

It really is no big deal here, in fact I'd say you'll find people more friendly here with the general atmosphere being more relaxed.

Safety wise I think you're better off here - I will walk on my own at night time in Torrevieja, but like the UK there will always be a slight risk so just exercise caution.  I will go into any bar on my own, ex pat or Spanish (where a Buenos Dias upon entering) is quite normal to say.  Only once a while back a couple of tipsy men took an amorous interest in me (must have been drunk thinking about it  lol), but despite having a rose and a drink bought for me I refused to join them and that was that.  I go out to restaurants on my own as well.  Never a problem.

Someone asked how they'd feel being on their own.  Good question.  I guess my confidence on being on my own comes from the fact that before retiring out here a year ago, I was a long distance truck driver, driving an Artic all over the UK so maybe that conditioned me!

Regardless, why be single in the cold, wet, grey, miserable, dull, damp, dismal UK when you can be single here.  You won't be single for long if you so wish. XX
