Can anyone advise please… we are English and resident in France. We will be on the .Costa Blanca for three months January to March. Are we allowed to go to Specsavers for an eye test and get new prescriptions for glasses. Thanks.

My first reaction was that you can go to any opticians in the world and have an eye test and choose new glasses, as long as you can understand the language of the person doing the test.

Spain ask for your NIE number though, so not sure if they can do it without.

Hi,

I live in Benidorm and have used Specsavers several times and bought expensive glasses from them.

They are located on Calle Gambo in the old town area. You can walk in and make an appointment. They speak English in the Benidorm branch. An eye test is often free or as little as €10. There is a huge range of glasses to choose from.

I can't remember ever being asked for my NIE number but my memory might not be so sharp nowadays 😀. However, I have seen many holidaymakers visit the shop. Give it a try...

Hello

Many of my Norwegian & Swedish neighbours ( non residents) always get their glasses from Specsavers here,  as it's so much cheaper than in their own countries..... (not connected but they all have their dentistry done here for the same reasons)

Cheers

Spain's health service does not pay for glasses ( unless you are poor) so it is a free for all of who or what shop you want to visit.
