Hello!

I will relocate in Benidorm in January!

I wish to get the rental apartment with my partner proof of pension, and bank statements.

I will start to work after I will get the place to live. The estate agency asking for work contract, but how I will get the work if I don't have place to live!

Any advice please,we really need to get the apartment first of all.

Thank you

Lucy

Firstly. Are you a UK passport holder?

If you are a UK passport holder you will need to apply for and get a work position before you can move over to Benidorm.

Your prospective employer will need to apply for a work visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK.

You can't just move over to Spain and apply for residency without some sort of visa.

Rental apartments are in high demand in Benidorm and are in short supply.

However if you do eventually find an apartment,  even as an EU passport holder you will need to sign on the foreigners register within the first 3 months of arrival in Spain otherwise you will be on the 90 day visiting allowance.

You will need to sign on the foreigners register at the national police station within the area you will be living. You will need to supply additional documentation.

Don't be taken in by Internet estate agents, most of their apartments or villas etc are not available and never have been. I found that when I was looking for apartments in Benidorm.

You should be able to secure an apartment on your husbands pension if the income from his pension is within the requirements for residency.

When I first moved to Benidorm years ago I rented a holiday apartment for a month and doing a lot of legwork went hunting for available apartments. It was a fairly difficult task as they were, as now, in short supply. I eventually found the ideal apartment for me but had to put a deposit down straight away otherwise it would be gone by next day.

Internet estate agents are not worth bothering with, you need to be here in Benidorm and look in physical estate agents windows.

Good luck

That is very good advice 👌 Actually I just try to get the information, to compare the prices and have the ideea how is working.

In januarie we ll be in Benidorm for our holiday, then go around to the estate agent to see what can they offer. It is very true what you said,I ve sent a few emails, but not to many answers back.

So,yeah, the best way is to be there, how you adviced!

Thank you very much!

Idealista is one of the better online sites. Many property owners list here rather than via estate agents. I used Idealista when I first moved here over 3 years ago. Unfortunately Benidorm is popular and rental prices are high. You would need other income than state retirement pension to live comfortably here. Best to be here to look around, perhaps check into a 2 star hotel as these are reasonably priced.
