We are due to move to Spain within the next couple of months, we have applied for our EHIC cards, do we need to apply for anything else ? What is a S1 card? Do we need to get this as well ? Plus can anyone tell me how soon you can apply to become a resident once you’ve moved. Thank you in advance

The SIP card entitles you to free healthcare in Spain. It´s actually paid by the UK government. One or other of you has to be in receipt of a UK pension in order to obtain them (one as a dependent if he/she has no pension). If both of you have a pension then there is no problem whatsoever.

Which reminds me, if you become resident here, your EHIC will be invalid, and you'll need to apply for EHIC-E.
