There are 3 types of schools: fully public (not recommendable), semi private subsidized, and fully private, the latter expensive, but may be worthwhile. I sent our sons to one and they are now in leading local gvt. positions.

Are you in benijofar? It’s so hard with all the restrictions in place just now, I can’t even just travel to see schools before hand.

We live in Benijofar with our 10 year old daughter and she goes to the local Spanish primary school. It's a lovely small school and they help the non-Spanish children with extra lessons for the first 2 years. There's lots of nationalities there as well which is nice.

The nearest British/International school is in Quesada called Willow Academy I think.

thank you so much for your reply, I really need all the help I can get. As due to restrictions I can not even travel out to see the school. 

I have looked at willow but was not sure how near/far it is? Is it quite close then? 

Could your daughter speak Spanish when she started school? I worry that my boys might feel the pressure if start a local school and can not speak the language?

Willow is about 10 mins by car from Benijofar, not sure if they have a school bus or not but worth asking as some of the private schools do.

I would really recommend a Spanish school if you want them to learn Spanish and mix with Spanish children. My daughter was 8 when we moved over and only knew the very basics. She's now getting great grades on all her work and is way beyond my GCSE level Spanish!

At Willow they have a few Spanish lessons a week (I asked) which is nowhere near enough to become fluent quickly in my opinion. 

It all depends on your situation and your kids though!

This is really really helpful thank you, can you let me know the name of Spanish school please and I will contact them. To be honest I did not think they would entertain me if the kids didn’t speak Spanish already. 

Can I ask also please about health insurance, I have no idea who to go with or what way to approach this.

The school in Benijofar is CEIP San Jaime. They take the non-Spanish children out for extra lessons a few times a week. It's also an idea to get a private tutor to help with homework!

Healthcare depends on what you are doing work wise. If self employed or employed by a Spanish company you pay social security and use the Spanish healthcare system. If not working you will need private healthcare.

Hi I'm looking to relocate from the UK with my husband and my 2 children aged 12 & 8. I am looking at moving to the area of benijofar and need as much information as possible. What are the state schools like, the area is it good to raise a family. Any help on what legal requirements are needed it's all so confusing.
