We are considering a move to Spain but are a bit confused at conflicting information from UK/Spain over our eligibility to free heaith care.

Has anybody managed to decipher all the info?

Also it appears that the income tax system is not as generous as the UK for us "poor old gits".

I guess it's a "swings and roundabouts " situation !

Hi Kimmy

Thank you for your reply! I have read an article stating that, post Brexit, the U.K. may only allow access to the NHS for immigrants who have been in the UK for a minimum of five years ,

The EU have stated that if that transpires it could well be that the same will apply in the 27 EU countries ,

It's all speculation of course and like you say, "who knows"!

Thank you for your valid comments and help.

You say 'poor old gits'. If that's a literal statement then, as Kim has said, if you're in receipt of UK state retirement pensions or other exportable benefits, you can transfer to the Spanish system without a problem.

Ref tax, again as Kim has said, read my posts.

If you're aged 65 and have a pension, then you get allowances of €6700 plus €2000 plus another allowance of up to €3700.

Thank you for that information!

I see where you get the 6700e figure from but could you give anymore info as to what the allowances are?  I am 66 and my partner is 69.

Any information would be very helpful and I thank you for your time!

As I said, read my posts:

If you still aren't clear, please ask a more specific question.
