Hi Donal,

Depending on where you pay National Insurance contributions (UK or Ireland), once you retire you should be entitled to the Form S1 (certificate of entitlement), which allows you to transfer your right to State funded healthcare to Spain.  If that's Ireland, then the use the information in the link that Cheryl has given you.  If it's the UK, you need to contact the NHS Business Services Authority - you can email them at:

[email protected]

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Donal,

Just reading some of these comments.. It is alot harder now to become resident if you have not lived here before December 2020. I have just gone through residency and I lived here from Feb 20. I had to have 9k in on average for 3 months and proof of bills, rental, doctors appointment. This is each if a couple. Padron cert to say you are living here. Health insurance about 700 per adult.

If your moving here you have to apply at the UK/Spanish embassy. Try contacting Sun lawyers which are based cabo roig.

Hope that helps.
