The floods in mid September 2019 were a one off but there is no guarantee it won't happen again at some point. It was extraordinary in that in most places the existing flood defenses and drainage channels were more or less holding up but the reservoir at Santomera looked in danger of breaching so the floodgates were opened to release the pressure. Tragically this meant a tidal wave of water running downhill towards the sea taking much of what was in it's path with it. Daya Nueva was towards the outer reaches of this flood and although I don't live there I think some parts were affected but much wasn't.
Although we have regular very heavy downpours, the areas away from the built up parts along the coast generally just get a bit soggy around the edges.

Hi Mark

I live in Daya Nueva and the new builds I think you are referring to are the ones between Daya Nueva and Daya Vieja. I did see one of the occupied houses having at least its garage area pumped out. Not sure how far into the actual house it got. Sorry can't be of any more help. By the way we love Daya Nueva. If you do chose it, I am sure you will to.

Take care and stay safe.

Neil
