Has anyone had issues buying Paracetamol.

I went to my chemist in Quesada and was told that a new rule meant I could only buy 1 pack of 20 tabs 620mg. They cost €3.75. I had asked for generic but I’m not sure they were. (Sándoz)

They had a note on the counter which said the same applied to Ibuprofen and Omeprezole.

I personally haven’t seen or read anything about it so hope it’s just our farmacia.

She said I would need a prescription to get more. If this is the case the surgery’s will be inundated and it makes a simple headache very expensive

Which chemist was that? We bought a pack last week with 20 x 500mg tablets and cost just under 2 euro, yes, they are more expensive here but you do know they are restricted in UK as well? Maximum 2 packs of 16 but they are talking of reducing it to one pack.

You can, of course, buy a pack in one pharmacy and then go to another to buy another pack but you must suffer from some awful headaches if you need to do that. At least 4 pharmacies in my area of Quesada.

Getting paracetamol, or any other reasonably priced med available over the counter, is a total waste of the doctor's time.

If  you are  in serious  need for Paracetamol. I would get allocated  amount  in your local Pharmacy.  Then I  would visit  another  Pharmacy.  I  would also  get  allocated  amount there. They  are  restricted  in   many European countries.  Apparently  a new  EU  ruling

I bought a box of 40 Ibuprofen 600mg from our Farmacia for 2 euros a couple of days ago with no problem.

The Spanish equivalent of Ibuprofen are called Ibudol. At one Farmacia I was charged 5.20 euros for a pack of 20 Ibudol 400mg.

It's like a lot of medical stuff here in Spain, it depends where you go to purchase......

In Tesco in England they will only sell you one packet of Paracetamol.

I went to our local pharmacy not long ago and bought a packet of 40 x 1g Paracetemol without a problem.  I can't remember the price but it was only a few Euros.

It looks like your local pharmacy is setting their own limits.

The EU regs ( for example: antibiotics, aspirin, paracetamol) are there to see ( if one "Googles" it). What actually occurs, is down to the pharmacy. But always, for paracetamol or asprina, always ask for "generica(o)" otherwise one will be charged for the advertised "branded" version, ( which may be 4 times (or higher) more than the basic (generic) product. It’s restricted in most countries, banned in some. It was restricted in UK oround 25 years ago because the commonest cause of acute liver failure was paracetamol overdose. If someone needs more than the one shop allowance it’s easy to go to a few or in and out of the same shop. If you’ve a family all loaded with cold/flu Covid etc one pack doesn’t go far

It's true they are restricted all over the place. Just go more often
