Hi. I have called three solicitors regarding making a Spanish will (including Sheila Garcia Parra who I know charged someone 60€ a while ago but has quoted 200€) and have been quoted 150 - 200€ for a single will. Has anyone had a recent will written cheaper than this please?

Try asking at your local notary offices. Wills have to be notarised anyway, and many notaries actually prepare the wills as well, avoiding the need for a solicitor.

Just make sure it includes the clause that the will is in accordance with UK law, otherwise it will be subject to Spanish law and 'forced succession' - i.e. you can't leave your estate to whoever you want to.

My wife and I have recently made Spanish wills. Out Solicitor charged €100, and the Notary was €135.

It was a little more expensive than the UK, but it needed to be done. €235 for peace of mind is a small price to pay.

We used a solicitor in El Campello

Hi.

So true!  It’s good to have prices to compare. Thank you.

If you have any assets in Spain, then it's strongly advisable to have a Spanish will; otherwise your inheritors will be those dictated by the law of forced succession, and your inheritor(s) will incur costs and inconvenience due to intestacy.

I have just paid €260 for a Will. which includes notary fees and my Bungalow is a holiday home. Best to have a Will than have a big headache for your beneficiary trying to claim what is theirs

We paid €57 each for our wills at a Notary in Almoradí.

In my opinion, if you are clear as to who you want to benefit when you die, you don't need the 'advice' of a solicitor, you just need to take your documents, and details of your beneficiaries, to a notary of your choice and ask them to prepare your wills.

If anyone wishes, I can pm with details of the notary we used, who was very good.

Geoff.
