Hi everyone,

We are about to buy a place in Dream Hills 1 and I just wondered what it was like there. Is it a safe place to stay? Can you walk to the beach? We will be over at the beginning of Jan to look at the property in real life as we fell in love with it on the virtual viewing we had. Thanks

Annette

Hello,

I know a lady who lives near to me who moved from Dream Hills because she couldn't drive after an  accident & it was impossible to manage without a car. She told me it was close to an hours walk to the beach , there is a small bus, hourly, that gets you to Playa Flamenca then you can walk from there via an under pass ( about 30mins).

She did like the area in DH, but now lives in La Mata & is happier with walking & 2 regular buses to Torrevieja.

Not much info. I'm afraid but other residents might respond, if not , a visit to look around will decide if it's the location for you.

Cheers

Thank you, we guessed it would be an hours walk which we are okay with as long as it’s a nice walk. It looks like it’s about twenty minutes to half an hour to get the the pink lake. I was also wondering whether the traffic noise was bad from the motorway?

Unfortunately Dream Hills isn't a very connected area, a smattering of bars etc and Aldi supermarket.

It would take app 15mins to walk to Via Park 3 centro commercial, this is mainly bars/restaurants and a pharmacy.

As for the walk to the nearest beach, which is Punta Prima, maybe 50/60 mins walk but this beach is tiny, alongside the Nautilus restaurant which is a nice place to sit for a drink.

The next main beach would be Playa Flamenca and you wouldn't want to do that walk on a regular basis in the heat.

Although you may have seen a property you like I can assure you there are hundreds for sale in the area, maybe consider other areas such as La Florida and Playa Flamenca which are  much more connected and walkable to amenities but still a good walk to the beach.

If walking to the beach is high on the list of your priorities you would be better located nearer to the main N332 road area, from this road there are roads off it to all the beaches in the area but be aware that property on the sea side of the N332 is more expensive.

All the above is making the assumption that you haven't actually placed a deposit on the property in Dream Hills ?

Hello Net.

We live at the bottom of the hill, the other side of the main CV95 road, near the Pink Lake (Lago Jardin 1). There’s a regular bus service (half hourly most of the year), that goes from Torrevieja, along the beach road, past the hospital, through Los Balcones and part way up the Dream Hills road, where it turns for its return journey. Have a look at the E Line on the Costa Azul bus website or App. You can see if any of the stops are near you.

In regard to motorway noise, you won’t have any worries. Apart from the distance, it’s also a very quiet stretch of the AP7, as it’s between the only 2 tolls on the motorway: one at the Zenia Boulevard exit, and one just after San Miguel, so you never get heavy traffic .. lucky to see more than 2 cars at a time!

Definitely need to come out and see the area for yourselves - it’s not just about the property, liking the area is just as important. We’ve been here just over 2 years and absolutely love it.

If I can help with any info, please feel free to private message me any time.

Good luck with your adventure.

Hi that’s very reassuring thank you. Is there access to the pink lake anywhere as I’m fascinated by it and I want to see the flamingos. I’ll check that bus route out thanks. We’ve fallen in love with a house in dream hills so will be popping over as soon as we can in January

Not sure how to private message but if you have any advice or tips please feel free to share. Also is the hill very steep?  Thank you Annette

Hi Ken

Thank you so much for your reply. We have fallen in love with a place and even as I keep looking in other areas I haven’t seen anything to beat it. We will be over as soon as possible in Jan to have a good look at the area. Walking to the sea is not a major issue I think we just like the idea of being able to if we want to. We’ve looked on google earth and seen the Nautilus which looks really good.
thank you

Hello

Regarding your comment about the salt lakes etc, the last time I passed by recently,  there weren't   any flamingoes , the parks were closed to visitors for many months this year so the flamingoes came back to breed for the 1st time since 1983. Heres the explanation for why they have left.....

"With commercial activity returning to Torrevieja´s salt lakes, a substantial drop in the water level, and a return to the lakes hypersalinity, it may be some time before flamingos return to the city to successfully breed again.

But with most of the teenage birds now dispersed throughout wetlands in the Alicante Province, large groups of this summer´s adolescent flamingos can still be seen adjacent to the N-332 coast road in Santa Pola and San Pedro del Pinatar to the south".

Hi Lee

Thank you for your message, the place looks lovely, good luck with your move. We have our heart set on a particular property at the moment so hopefully all will go with.
