Someone may be able to answer this.

Im resident in Spain with a UK passport. I'm planning to go back to UK for 10 days in November. My UK passport expires in April 2020. Not quite 6 months.

What would be the situation being resident ? I have residency card, driving licence and padron to show my residency status. I have no property in the UK anymore.

Where would I stand coming back 'home' to Spain in the event of a no deal catastrophe ?

Can I use my Spanish driving licence or residency card to enter Spain.

I would pitch up at Newport, Peterborough or wherever and get a new passport ... it just means hanging around for a few hours

If you have a problem at all it will more likely be when checking in for whatever transport you'll be using to return to Spain.

I wouldn't worry though, there's going to be a further delay, can't see how it can be avoided.

Whether BoJo gets found "dead in a ditch" though who knows - or cares!

I would object to the cost of a State Funeral for that charlatan

Its just returning I'm bothered about. I won't have any transport returns as I live in Spain so my wife would be picking me up. I have transport in UK so don't need anything there.

Just passport control if anyone awake there in Alicante ! 5 months remaining on passport not 6.

Hopefully there will be an extension, less hopefully a deal. Unlikely scrapped altogether !

Alicante has installed electronic passport gates for all UK and ROI flights in and out. Nobody is asleep there any more.

ROI gets caught up in all of this because of the freedom of movement between UK and ROI.

I thought the six months passport validity was just for those visiting Spain. As you'd simply be returning home, I don't think there would be a problem. Carry your residency certificate with you in case you need to prove residence.

I'm in the same situation.  The only problem i am expecting is not being able to check in on line for the flight so will have to go to the service desk with my residency card.

I've checked the Brexit section of the www.gov.uk website and it's silent on the specific case of a UK citizen returning to their European country of residence.  So I looked at the Entry Requirements of the 'Living in Spain' section and it says,

"The authorities in the country or territory you’re travelling to are responsible for setting and enforcing the rules for entry. If you’re unclear about any aspect of the entry requirements, or you need further reassurance, you’ll need to contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of the country or territory you’re travelling to.

"You should also consider checking with your transport provider or travel company to make sure your passport and other travel documents meet their requirements."

For the sake of a couple of emails or phone calls, I think it's worth getting confirmation from the airline and the Spanish embassy.

Good luck!

Kim
