El Galan is approximately a 10/15 minute drive to the beaches of Orihuela Costa, depending on heavy summer traffic. Walking that’s probably 1 hour and a half, that’s a long way when you’re carrying your bucket and spade.

Perhaps this will give you more information.

Assuming you can get a visa and meet the financial and health insurance requirements, nothing can beat being on the ground and trying things out yourself.

Without a car your best bet is to go to Torrevieja bus station and get bus timetables, this will narrow down your areas straight away as some routes will be minimal in winter and some don't run on weekends.
Some areas are very quiet in winter when holiday home owners are not here so much.
La Mata and Guardamar have good bus links, as do the areas off the CV905 up to San Luis and El Chaparral.

Buses run from the El Galan Commercial Centre. These run frequently to La Zenia which is 5 mins walk to the beach. You dont desperately need a car as the Mercadona is very close
