Hi,

After 3 year of coming to our holiday home in Elda it looks like we will finally move over permanently in August. Should have been sooner but with everything going on in the world at the moment it has delayed us. Hope everyone has been keeping safe and well. Say hello if you see us out and about.

Regards Adam and Mel.

Hi Grahame,

I have been hearing this but the solicitor has advised all would be fine I have seen a few things regarding this also but it’s about as clear as mud.

Yes in the UK but any changes you could advise would be great.

Regards

Adam

Hi Adam

As Grahame says, things have changed, very quickly and without much notice. Can I suggest you look at RayD’s recent posts?

Not sure when you last spoke to your solicitor, so it’s possible he wasn’t aware of the very recent changes. The members on here are very clued up on what’s happening so I personally would trust them be up to the minute with their advice - and its free🤪🥂

No need to panic, the new system starting tomorrow is for TIE,s instead of old EU residency as Spain has started early for our status change after Brexit as then non EU citizens. Requirements should stay same as before, few extras, fingerprint check, photograph(I believe) its a bonus for 1st time wouldbe residents as all Uk citizens would have to change their residencias to TIE,s eventually so saves another procedure for you.

Also as long as you have resided here before January 2021 you still have until June '21 to gain residency via the TIE. One differrence is TIE,s are valid for a set 5yrs then need to be renewed.

Your plan is safe

Regards

Pauline.

Hi  Angebadge,

I have just look for the posts you mentioned but was unable to find them I suppose the real question I need the answer is can we still move and live in Spain. I am trying to figure this out and it so far has been quite confusing. One place saying one thing and another place totally conflicts the information. Really confused now.

Regards Adam.

Hi Pauline,

That makes more sense I think some of the post I have read have been very negative basically not you won’t be able to go and so I have just be digging around in all the wrong places it seems. I will make a call to the solicitor on Monday and make sure that we have all our ducks in a row. But thank you for you help.

Regards Adam.

No problem, I too have seen much scaremongering on this subject and its not right as it spreads needless anxiety. Facebook is full of them, fed up of adding corrections. Btw, just as a mention, dont forget as a matter of courtesy if posts help, please tick helpful button.

Regards

Pauline.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

The financial and health requirements stay the same.

The norm for non-EU citizens' TIE is one year, but the legislation published yesterday says five years for UK citizens.

It seems that Spain are bending over backwards to help UK citizens, unlike the way in which bar steward Boris is treating EU citizens.
