Morning all

My partner, aged 58, had her Pfizer on Thursday 10th June and four days later came out in a rash, not just around the needle spot on her arm but all over the body, except on the face, its quite bumpy/lumpy and you notice it more on her 'white bits' where it shows as red.

Has anyone else had this rash and if so, how long did it last. Its still quit noticeable even now.  If you haven't had this rash, have you got any ideas.

I know the logical thing is go to the doctor, but as an non-spanish speaking ex-pat, as most others may know, the doctors over here don't seem to be the most friendly.

Thanks for any help, in anticipation.

Take care and keep safe

David

The Health Service here is very competent. Instead using the forum to provide a diagnosis, perhaps you should visit a Medical Center with an Interpreter? Preferably, one with medical Interpreting knowledge. Just for peace of mind obviously.

I would certainly follow up with a doctor. Take photos before it has a chance to fade. Your wife may possibly be advised against the second jab depending how bad the reaction is, & especially if she has had any fever , nausea , dizziness, diarrea, feeling breathless ….
I’ve been on the receiving end  of a really nasty reaction to something in the past with all those symptoms and had to go get a shot to calm it down. It took 2 days for my face to return to its normal self - the receptionist at the clinic didnt recognise me when I returned for a receipt to claim from travel insurance.

My husband had the same problem only it was on his buttocks and upper legs. It came up 3 or 4 days after the jab and was very itchy for a few days and subsided but did take a couple of weeks to disappear completely.  He looked online and it is a side affect, albeit less common,  so he did not go to the doctors but applied an allergy cream.

Hello David

Before you do anything else, go to a farmacia, show them the rash  & get their advice. If you need to see a Dr. they will tell you but more likely be able to sell you cream/spray/medication to resolve the problem.  If you havent been yet, there are some 24hr farmacias you can go to ( 2 x in Torrevieja but maybe somewhere closer.......ask a neighbour

Cheers

Hi Elaine,

It may not be related, but coincidentally what you describe is what my dad experienced and was diagnosed with Dermatitus Herpetiformis, a precursor to Ceoliacs disease, due to gluten intolerance:

https://celiac.org/about-celiac-disease/related-conditions/dermatitis-herpetiformis/

Not as alarming as it sounds, but worth keeping an eye on it.  My dad was 80 before it was diagnosed from a distinctive, itchy rash, covering his buttocks and thighs down to his knees.  He's 92 now and in good health, although he occasionally has to take medication because he cheats on the diet he's supposed to stick to for his DH 😉

Kind regards,

Kim
