Anyone fallen foul of the 90 day rule, consequences? Just wondering what the actual consequences have been for anyone overstaying in Spain?

I can't speak from own  experience, but for work reasons sometimes I do have regular contact with spanish foreigner's police (extranjeria) and after speaking to them I would not recommend to anyone overstaying that 90 days. Beeing caught overstaying, in worst case, can lead to being arrested and deported as for any other non EU citizen overstaying.

By the way, the 90 days count starts whenever you enter the Schengen zone, not when you arrive to Spain.

Hello

This question was asked quite recently, if you put  it in the search box you will see all the replies.  The one I recall was from a man who knew 2 people that had overstayed & he said, they  had been given a 2year ban before they could return to Spain - I cant remember all the rest , but it was a recent topic

Cheers
