Hi All

I am currently buying a house on gata residential and I am looking to moving to Spain in the future since Brexit the rules have changed a bit I have seen different figures on what your monthly income has to be to be accepted for residencia.Does anyone know the exact rules as I will be coming with my pension and possibly working.one figure I've seen is you have to be post a monthly income of 2500 euros a month into your bank account which I thought was very high as the cost of living is lower than the uk. This figure seems more like a figure to live in the uk. Many thanks  Shaun

Hi,

The income requirements for gaining residency in Spain are:

You will need an income of €27,115.20 for yourself per annum and an additional €6,778.80 for each additional family member.

You will need full private healthcare coverage paid for a full year. You may be able to get your healthcare cover paid by the UK government under the S1 cover, if you can meet all the requirements.

You will need to apply in the first instance for residency in Spain through the Spanish embassy while you are still living in the UK.

If you can't gain residency you will be limited to the 90 day in 180 day rule for visiting Spain.

With the extremely high unemployment rate in Spain it is unlikely that you will find any worthwhile employment.

Hi Steve

I read the UK- EU summary document and interpreted the S1 as still viable, after 31/12/2020. However, it feels a bit like the elephant in the room, no one else has mentioned it 🤪🥂

Steve's figures (above) apply to the Non-Lucrative Visa - if you don't want/need to work.

If you plan to work full time/part time you will need a working visa

Hi Ange,

You're correct, the Trade and Co-operation Agreement, signed by the UK on 24 December, does include for the continuation of the S1 post-Brexit.  However, EU member states have yet to sign the agreement - it was originally scheduled for February, but the UK granted the EU an extension until the end of April.  Until the EU signs, the agreement doesn't pass into law - and given both sides apparent contempt for international treaties, I wouldn't rely on it for any life-changing decisions yet.

Kind regards,

Kim
