Hi. My husband and I have just got residencia.  Before the end of December we tried to register to exchange our UK driving licences for Spanish ones but we were told that we could not do this because we did not have residencia at the time.  Now we have been told that we will have to take a driving test to get a Spanish licence.  Can anyone give advice please.  Jayne and Mick Nash

Hi, yes that is correct. You will now have to take a Spanish driving test to gain a Spanish driving licence. You cannot do the exchange.

Hi, was your residencia in progress at the time? I wonder if it was, maybe that'd be enough to avoid a full test?
