Hi, I'm hoping to relocate from Ireland to Lá florida. My concern is whether there are English or Irish doctors in the area

I am planning to move from Ireland to Lá florida in the very near future. I am a middle aged woman moving to Spain on her own, though i do have a very good friend in Santa pola. I have done quite a bit of research and la florida seems ideal as apparently there is an English speaking community which would be ideal for me. I would love to join an art class if there indeed is one and also keep fit classes to meet people. I am definitely going to make the move even though the prospect is a little Scary and yet exciting at the same time. Its now or never as life is too short. So any helpful information would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Susan

Hi Susan and welcome to the forum,
As you say that you're "middle aged", I assume you're not old enough to be drawing your State pension and qualifying for an S1? In which case, you'll need to buy annual private health insurance and, typically, this gives you access to English-speaking doctors in private facilities.
Kind regards,
Kim

Hi Susan
I can confirm that La Florida is a multi nationality area where English speakers are very much to the fore.
One of the restaurants in the area, Waldemars International run an art class, or they did when I was last there before the pandemic, as for keep fit classes, I am sure that you wouldn't have any problem finding one.
There are a good numbers of social/ladies groups, I think La Florida would be an excellent area for a lady on her own to live, there is plenty going on every day.
Also look up The Emerald Isle restaurant in La Florida, they always have things happening, The Abbey Tavern too, maybe not as much at the moment but once we are through the pandemic I am sure these areas will return to normal.
I have a holiday home in La Florida and I have really missed not being able to get there.
Ken.

The Abbey and Emerald Isle have their own pages on Facebook - actually most bars around here do! Take a look!
Cheers

Here I am again 😁I am finding this forum extremely helpful with my upcoming move. I am seriously considering la florida as it seems just the right place for me. I need a 2 bed house a walk from the beach with shops nearby and preferably a walk from the zenia boulevard. Any suggestions on other urbanisations in the vacinity. Any help with my enquiry would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
Susan

Hi Susan
From Punta Prima at the north end, to Camoamor at the south end, you'll find the whole of the area is full of English-speakers (including Germans, Dutch, Norwegians etc).
If an easy walk to the beach is important to you, be aware that the costal road (N332) is a fast moving dual carriageway, with only a few safe places to cross. From LA Florida to the beach at Playa Flamenca will take around 40 minutes.
You might consider living in LA Zenia, where there is a footbridge, so the walk to La Zenia beach would be much shorter, and you could also easily walk to the Boulevard.
Hope you find this useful!

That has been so helpful, so Lá Zenia is a definite option.
Thank you
Susan
