What do I do with my S1 Certificate?
I have received my S1 Certificate. What do I do with it now? Should I take it to my local Health Centre to register? Thank you for any advice.

Hello
You have to register your S1 at your closest INSS which I think will be in Torrevieja. They will issue you with a social security number, you take that to your local health centre & they will give you a SIP card & allocate you a Doctor. You will need an appointment, which could take a few weeks as they are very busy & only working with half the staff due to the Covid virus.
Here's the link to make an appointment...
Remember to take your padron, passport & TIE when you attend

Hi Could I possibly ask a question please, my neighbour has her S1 and in December applied for residency, she has been informed by her solicitor that for her first year of residency she requires private health insurance, is this correct? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Gilly,
Did your neightbour have her S1 before she applied for residency? If so, she doesn't need PHI.
Kind regards

We received our S1s in December and registered on line for NSS (social security numbers). http://www.seg-social.es/wps/portal/wss/internet/Inicio.
Managed to obtain our NSS numbers using this link - it is all in spanish and did take quite a lot of patience to negotiate through it using google translate. They then emailed us with our NsS numbers which we printed and took with our S1s with passports, residencia, padrons (which i think had to be less than 6 months in date) to Cabo Roig clinic to register with them. They did it there and then, without appointment, and gave us our SIP cards.
Hope this helps - good luck.
