Hailing Taxis
Does anyone know if it is permitted to hail a passing (licensed white) taxi or can they only be joined at taxi ranks?
Thank you

As long as a taxi has a green light then yes you can hail it down. Under the terms of their licence taxis are only licensed to pick up in their own municipality, so can only show a green light once they’re in their own zone.
But it costs you more to flag a taxi than to pick up at a rank or prebook. So expect to pay anything between 3.50€ to 5€ extra if you hail a taxi. This charge varies depending on which day it is and the time of day.

Official taxis have a blue rear number plate and a green light on top of the vehicle.
