In a month I'll be in La Mata again and this time I will have the use of a car and I'd like to take a picnic to one of the lakes. Can anyone tell me which of the two lakes is the most picturesque and where would I park? Thanks

Hi,

The La Mata Laguna has parking and a picnic area plus look out hides for spotting the wildlife.

If you're actually in La Mata the visitors centre is just across the main roundabout,  you can park there and walk down to the park or drive to the cemetery and park there.

If you go on Google maps it will give you more of an idea of the area.

As far as I'm aware the Torrevieja Laguna doesn't have as many facilities.

Please be aware that to protect the flora and fauna you're not allowed to go off the paths to the lake. There are signs but always some who think it doesn't apply to them.

Hope you enjoy your picnic :-)

That's brilliant, thanks for your advice. I presume that you mean the roundabout near the small Carrefour?

Thank you ladies. I don't suppose either car park has toilet facilities?

 Hello Alan,

Not in the actual  car park, but the Visitors Centre does.
