This is a message which comes under the heading of 'an elephant in the room.' We are not that young and wonder what happens if you die whilst living in Spain, cant put it anymore bluntly. Just looking for anything on the subject.

Hi Pete,

Just out of interest, what is the area Vega Baja and where does it cover? When reading news articles I often wonder where it is and what it translates to. Why is the area called this? I would love to know. Many thanks.

Vega Baja simply means low-lying fertile plain.

Thanks Jim, that makes sense now. A little more learnt for the memory bank!

Best regards, Sheila

Dear Catsj ,

Having had THREE friends die in the past six months , here is my suggestion - buy a funeral plan! They will take ALL of the hassle out of the situation for you / your partner / your family. Two of our friends did NOT and one DID have a plan ; presume you can guess which was the least stressful for all concerned. NO, i do not work for any of the companyies concerned, our plans are with AVALON.

I totally agree, best to buy a plan now and then you can forget about it, knowing that everything is taken care of. We are with Avalon, and it also covers you anytime you are back in the UK. It was one of the first things we did when we moved to Spain.

You can also donate your body to science, which costs €1000 - a lot cheaper than a funeral and possibly cheaper than a funeral plan - plus this might help other people.
