I have just noticed that on my electricity bill (Iberdrola) that in the section “additional information”  a section that says Contract end date 07/01/22.  Can anyone explain exactly what that means, and if there is any action or procedure I should follow. I never noticed it before, at present in UK but returning to Spain tomorrow. Many thanks.

Whatever contract you had, whether it had discounted rates, day/night plans will return to the basic contract, so on your return, visit Iberdrola and find out what offers they have suitable for your needs, take all relevant paperwork/id with you and within a few days your new contract will be put in place, also ask what length of time year/years your new contract last.

Usually there is a clause of automatic renewal.

Just had a quick look at my latest Iberdrola bill and it states that our contract end date is 1/10/2026. We've been on the 8 hour plan for quite some time, so the contracts do last for a while.

BTW Our cheap rate has increased to 0.1170 euros per kWh and our expensive rate to 0.2568 kWh which is a lot higher than when we first changed to the 8 hour plan.

How does this rate compare with everyone else's?

Correct, automatic renewal will revert back to a basic contract with no frills, deals or discounts.

Correct, the 8 hour plan is the contract you have, but the actual cost of electricity units used fluctuates on a daily basis and at present the daily electricity units supplied is high, these rates are not fixed in any contract you have and when the electricity bill is due its based on the average unit price over the month/time of the bill. It is my understanding, there is no fixed rate contract available.
